Hesketh Bank Community Centre

Centre counts down to reopening

The Trustees of Hesketh Bank Community Centre are counting down the days until they can open to the public and show off their brand new premises.

Steve Kirby, Chairman, said, “We are so looking forward to welcoming events and activities to our fabulous new facility and are gearing up to re-open from the 17th May.”  This will, however, be with limited capacity and subject to government guidelines.

The old hall was knocked down in October and a purpose built modular centre was due to be installed last year, but that was delayed until the New Year due to Covid.  So finally, with lockdown restrictions easing, the Trustees will be able to get back up and running.  Steve, who only signed for the building on the 7th of April, continued, “Many of our existing users, such as Becconsall U3A, who have greatly supported us with the development, are coming back but we are pleased to also be welcoming new activities such as a toddler group.  This just proves that there is a need for community centres like this, and even more so as we hopefully get back out and about and are able to be meeting people again.”

The new Community Centre consists of two halls: the larger Ellis Suite, which can hold upto 120 people, and smaller Baldwin Room, which can hold up to 40 (once restrictions are lifted), – and can host a wide range of things, including private bookings, with the the added benefit of a lounge, kitchen and bar.
