The Trustees of Hesketh Bank Community Centre are putting the finishing touches to their brand new building, with the added bonus of their social meeting space furnishings being funded by a £2,239.00 grant from the Local Connections Fund.
The Local Connections Fund by the National Lottery Community Fund was designed to help charities and community groups in England that are working to reduce loneliness by helping them build connections across their communities.
Mike Ellis, who wrote the successful application for the monies, explained, “It was always our aim with the new building to become a hub for the community and among other objectives help reduce loneliness which is a real issue, now more than ever, in Hesketh Bank. Therefore, the design included a social meeting space, something the existing centre did not have. So, we will be encouraging people to drop in and stay for a coffee after their class or club in the hall once Covid restrictions are lifted.”
